On Dec.16, 2018, the Asian Region Final of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) successfully finished. After fierce competition, 5 teams from Beijing Institute of Technology ACM club rounded off their ACM/ICPC trip with 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and one bronze medal. So far, ACM club has won 5 golden medals, 10 silver medals and 5 bronze medals in ACM/ICPC.

ACM/ICPC is hosted by ACM, which has been successfully held 42 times. The contest is widely acknowledged to be the largest and highest level international university programming competition, and the highest mental contest among global university students, called “Olympic Competition in Programming”. The participating teams of the Asian Regional Final were selected by the previous regional competitions. Totally, 398 teams from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Nanjing University and other universities participated in the finals. The elites of computer programming in Colleges and universities all over the country gathered together and jointly launched a fierce medal contest.

This competition is the last competition for ACM-ICPC in the 2008-2019 season. The five teams sent by BIT’s ACM Club are all undergraduates of 2016 and 2017. The participants gave full play to their own strength in the competition, and fought tenaciously and unremittingly with the top competitors from other universities in the Asian region. Finally, they achieved excellent results and won honors for BIT.

Since the establishment of BIT’s ACM Club, under the leadership of the Deputation of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Office of the CYL Committee and School of Computer Science and Technology, the team members have made full use of the summer vacation time to carry out a month-long intensive training. They have given up their vacation and participated in 10 hours of intensive training every day in the base, which has fully improved their individual participation level and team cooperation ability. This year, ACM Club achieved excellent results in the ICPC, which cannot be separated from teachers’ hard work and students’ hard training. We believe that through this year's ICPC, the members have realized their shortcomings and accumulated competition experience. In the future, ACM Club will continue to make greater efforts, and to achieve more excellent results.
