Vice President of University of Oviedo visits BIT

    On the afternoon of December 18, professor Covadonga Betegon Biempica, vice president of University of Oviedo of Spain visited Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT). Zhao Changlu, vice president of BIT met with the visiting delegation in conference room.

    Vice president Zhao Changlu introduced to professor Betegon the internationalization development of our university. He said that in the framework of the cooperation agreement between University of Oviedo and BIT, the two parties can further promote student exchanges, teacher exchanges as well as cooperation in academic and scientific research. Meanwhile, professor Betegon introduced the basic situation and international projects. He said that University of Oviedo attached high importance to the cooperation with BIT. Moreover, he also expressed the wish for further cooperation in various fields especially in humanities and natural sciences.
 

 
    During the meeting, the two parties discussed cooperation projects ranging from areas such as sending Spanish teachers to BIT and exchanging students.

    The meeting was presided over by Gao Shan, the deputy director of Center of International Communication and Cooperation. Other delegation members are: Ms. Meng Lin and Ms. Gen Shengnan, the Chinese representatives from University of Oviedo. Moreover, members from  BIT included Zhang Laixiang, the associate dean of School of Foreign Language, Zeng Yan, the acting director of the Department of Spanish, Spanish teacher Pablo Garcia, who was dispatched by University of Oviedo, and Liang Yuan as well as Zheng Jiaran, both of which are lecturers of School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Background Information:

    Located in Oviedo, a city of northern Span, which is famous as a historic and cultural city, the University of Oviedo is on the verge of Atlantic Bay of Biscay. 

    Founded in 1608, it is a public university and also one of the six Spanish winners of Campus of International Excellence. It has twelve departments : Biology, Science, Educational Sciences, Law, Economy and Business Science, Linguistics, Philosophy, Geography and History, Geology, Medicine including dental science and biochemistry, Psychology and Chemistry. In May 2013, the University of Oviedo and BIT signed a memorandum of cooperation and the agreement concerning the project of sending Spanish teachers to BIT. According to the agreement, the University of Oviedo has sent two Spanish teachers to teach in BIT.
