Forum on Multidisciplinary Science Invited National Technical Invention Award Winner to Make Report

  On the afternoon of April 26, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) Forum on Multidisciplinary science (6th) was successfully held in Zhongguancun Campus. More than 60 young teachers and graduates from related schools took part in the forum, which was hosted by Professor Wang Junsheng from the Front Multidisciplinary Research Institute.

  

  

  This forum invited the winner of 2015 National Technical Invention Award, Professor Yang Rongjie from the School of Material Science and Engineering, 2016 National Technical Invention Award winner, Professor Wang Haifu from the School of Mechatronical Engineering for reports. Before the reports, dean director of Front Multidisciplinary Research Institute Yan Yan awarded the two as invited reporter and expressed thanks to them for their spending spare time joining the forum and sharing academic achievement, research experience and front academic research trends with young scholars and helped them improve themseleves.

  

  

  Professor Yang Rongjie made a report titled Nanometer Polymer Flame Retardant Material . He first introduced polymer material's application in traffic transportation, construction materials, electronic appliances, wires and cable, explained the importance of nanometer material when applied in polymer flame retardant materials as well as problems in the application. Then he described the application situation of Layered nanometer materials, carbon nanometer tubes, cage like silicon in polymer. Meanwhile, he talked about the nanometer material, nanocomposite and its system and the new achievements of national flame retardant material engineering technology research center from the aspects of molecular structure, flame retardant function, preparation methods and engineering applications. At last, he expressed his prospective for the field, who thought that in flame retardant polymer material we can find solutions to solve nanometer material's organic functions and dispersion problems from the flame retardant materials. Molecular level nanometer unit such as nanometer cage's poss jointing to polymer chain is also an available goal. With the development of technology, the preparation methods of flame retardant polymer material will become easier.

  

  

  Professor Wang Haifu gave his report named Lethality Considerations of Direct Hit Interceptor, which is about questions on ballistic missile defense function interceptor's direct hit. Professor Wang first introduced the technical challenge and revolution ballistic missile defense faces, especially for the development of today's system. He analyzed the technical characteristics of boost, midcourse and end interception including sky based, ocean based and land based advanced early warning and tracking technology, weapon interception technology and missile interception technology and introduced ballistic missile interception chemical warhead's research improvement from four aspects: end meeting modeling, numerical simulation of interception effect, ground simulation experiment and evaluation of interception debris area. Meanwhile he introduced research progress on the application of high strength structural active materials in enhancing the damage ability of kinetic energy Interceptor from application methods, technical approaches and ground validation tests. At last, Professor Wang said they could cooperation and explore with young people of mechanics and material fields in two aspects, which are, explosive dynamics simulation calculation of ballistic missile defense and the fragmentation mechanism of materials under different impact conditions.

  

  

  This forum improves the scholars' understanding of nanometer flame retardant material and ballistic missile defense fields, embodies the research achievements and strategic position in related areas of BIT as well as motivates young scholars' interests as well as promotes the scientific communication and cooperation.

  BIT Forum on Multidisciplinary Science is aimed to achieve the goal "forging top disciplines and building global top technology institute" and provide an academic communication platform in an opening, active, competitive academic atmosphere; enhance academic communication and discipline intersection, especially help young teachers integrate rapidly and well informed about the special background as well as advanced developing fields; broaden academic vision.
