BIT Successfully Held ARSO 2019

  Beijing Institute of Technology Oct 31th,2019:From Oct 31 to Nov 2, the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts (ARSO 2019) was held at Beijing Institute of Technology. The conference was hosted by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and co-sponsored by Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Intelligent Robots and Systems (BAICIRS), School of Mechatronical Engineering, Stake Key Lab of Intelligent Control and Decisions of Complex Systems. Professor Nii Kenzo of BIT serves as the president of the conference, and Professor Yu Zhangguo serves as the president of the procedure committee.

  

  IEEE-ARSO is one of the most important academic conferences in the field of international robots. The ARSO 2019 is the 15th session, and foreign academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Over 30 well-known experts in robots, including designated president of IEEE, Toshio Fukuda, and president of International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science, professor Marco Ceccarelli, and former president of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, professor Satoshi Tadokoro, and former president of The Robotics Society of Japan, professor Atsuo Takanishi, and over 120 scholars and experts from more than 10 countries and regions including Japan, USA, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Austria, India and China, etc., have attended the conference.

  

  At the opening ceremony, professor Tadokoro delivered a speech on behalf of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society; and Chen Pengwan, director of School of Mechatronical Engineering, BIT, introduced the development history and research progress in robotics and welcomed experts and scholars all over the world on behalf of BIT, and he also hoped the conference would be held smoothly; academician Toshio Fukuda delivered a speech and introduced the development history and significance of the ARSO conference; professor Huang Qiang, executive deputy director of BAICIRS introduced the development of BAICIRS, welcomed and thanked the attendants. The opening ceremony was hosted by professor Nii Kenzo.

  

  Professor Thomas Bock from Technische Universität München made a report for the conference, and 6 experts, including professor Marco Ceccarelli, professor AtsuoTakanishi, etc., have made invited reports. The conference is divided into 15 forums, with 74 papers applied and the papers will be included in the EI search.

  

  On the afternoon of October 31, the experts and scholars attending the conference visited the BAICIRS of Beijing Institute of Technology in batches, and had in-depth exchanges with the center staff. Visitors highly praised the work conducted in the field of advanced robotics and hoped to further strengthen exchange and cooperation with BAICIRS.

  

  Through this meeting, an advanced platform to make international exchange on advanced robotics, which will further drive the exchange and cooperation between BIT and overseas universities and institutes in the field of robotics, thus enhancing the discourse power and international influence of Beijing Institute of Technology in the field of robotics.
