Professor Liang Jun and Wang Cheng Was Selected as Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions of the 2019 National Talent Project

  Beijing Institute of Technology, November 6th, 2019: Recently, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China (MOHRSS) issued a selected list of the 2019 National Talent Project (the MOHRSS [2019] num.102), and 414 experts in the list were selected and awarded with the honorary title of young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions. A total of 7 experts of the colleges and universities attached to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) were selected. Professor Liang Jun, Wang Cheng of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) were on the list.

  

  The National Talent Project is formulated in accordance with the national science and technology development plan and economic and social development demands, which aims to strengthen the training for China’s cross-century outstanding young talents. The selecting work centered on the national medium-term and long- term talent development planning outline and the key areas of economic and social development determined by the outline, and it is inclined to lead young and middle-aged talents who guide the original innovation of basic theory and promote innovation and development of basic disciplines. The goal is to use the planned and focused selection and training to cultivate 4000 national-level engineering candidates from 2012 onwards. The project focus on selecting and cultivating high-level young and middle-aged talents who are at the forefront of the world's science and technology and can lead and support the country's major science and technology and key areas to achieve leap-forward development. Among them, there are about 1,000 leading talents in the basic disciplines and basic research fields that are included in the “National special support plan for high level talents Program”.

  

Appendix of the brief introduction of the two professors:

  

  Liang Jun, professor at BIT, doctoral tutor. In recent years, he has been engaged in the research and application of mechanics of composite materials, heat-resistant materials and structural properties characterization and evaluation. Many achievements have been identified and applied, laying a theoretical foundation for composite design and engineering applications.

  He has published more than 170 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 90 SCI papers, more than 800 references by others, 1 monograph published, 2 collaborative works, and 7 national invention patents. In 2007, he won the second prizes of the National Science and Technology award (ranked 4th), and three awards of first prize and one awards of the second prize of the provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological awards. In 2009, he won the Youth Science and Technology Award from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.  

  In 2005, he was selected in the program for New Century Excellent Talents in University by the Ministry of Education. In 2006, he was awarded the Outstanding Youth of Heilongjiang Province. In 2013, he was funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.

  

  Wang Cheng, male, born in September 1972, Ph.D., is currently the director, professor and doctoral supervisor of the State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology, BIT.

  His subject is engineering mechanics, and his main research field is mechanics of explosion. He has presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the national key research and development program, and the Key Issues of defense. The research results won a total of 3 awards including the provincial and ministerial level first and second prizes. He has published more than 80 SCI and EI papers and in academic journals at home and abroad, and has been authorized to have 26 national invention patents and 2 monographs.

  In 2003, he won the Young Researcher Fellowship Award at the 2nd MIT Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics and Solid Mechanics. In 2008, he was selected in the program for New Century Excellent Talents in University by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, he was honored as an advanced individual in Beijing, and he was funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. In 2017, he was selected as a leading talent of capital science and technology.

  He is currently the vice director-general of the International Society of Multiphysics, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Shock Wave Institute, standing director of the China Association for Public Safety, standing director of the China Society of Engineering Blasting, director of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and secretary-general of the mechanics of explosion specialty Committee of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Associate Editor of Aerospace Science and Technology, Associate Editor of Journal of Safety and Environment, and editorial board of journals such as Defence Technology, Central European Journal of Energetic Materials, Chinese Journal of High Pressure Physics, and Chinese Journal of Energetic Materials.
