Beijing Institute of Technology, Nov 5th,2019: “International Symposium on Explosion and Response Flow” was successfully held in Beijing. It is sponsored by the international cooperation and exchange fund of the natural science foundation of Beijing, and sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology, Collaborative Innovation Center of Safety and Protection of Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT). Shu xueming, Deputy Secretary General of the institute of public safety, and zhang jianguo, Deputy Director of the School of Mechatronical Engineering of BIT respectively addressed the welcoming remarks, expressing their warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the domestic and foreign experts and scholars attending the conference. The opening ceremony was presided over by wang cheng, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology.

The symposium is a series of conferences sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology, and is also an important international academic conference in the field of detonation physics and explosion safety. The symposium had Prof. Hong Hao, academician of the Australian Academy of Engineering, Prof. Piotr Wolanski, vice President of the United Nations Committee on the peaceful USES of outer space, academician of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Mike Kuznetsov, director of the Explosion Dynamics Laboratory of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, Prof. Koichi Hayashi, director of Japanese Explosion Society, and Prof. Ahmed Mebarki of the Eastern University of Paris present excellent presentations. Professor Aleksandr Yu. Dolgoborodov, director of Shock Wave Laboratory, Russian Academy of Sciences; professor Guoxing Lu, Swinburghen University of Science and Technology, Australia; professor Pavel n. Krivosheyev, Belarus Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer; professor Kazuhiro Ishii, Yokohama National University, Japan Explosive Association; professor Jennifer X Wen, University of Warwick, UK; Professor Zoran Ren, vice President of University of Maribor, Slovenia, and 22 other well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad made seasoned reports. These reports cover the development of major engineering applications and international disciplines and reflect the latest research progress in detonation wave/deflagration wave mechanics, gas and dust explosion, chemical reaction dynamics, explosion disaster effect, explosion prevention and control in recent years.

The aim of this symposium is to build a multidisciplinary academic exchange and cooperation platform for experts and scholars engaged in detonation physics, structural dynamic response and explosion safety, and to promote the innovation and development of related disciplines. More than 80 experts and scholars from more than 10 countries including Russia, Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Poland, Japan, belarus, Slovenia and China attended the conference. With enthusiastic discussions and questions, the symposium was a complete success.
