School of Management and Economics of BIT Successfully Accredited by AACSB

  Beijing Institute of Technology, November 25th, 2019: Recently, School of Management and Economics of the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) received a notice from the Council of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), confirming that it passed the AACSB certification for a period of five years, which marks the official entry of School of Management and Economics into the ranks of International Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and has become the accredited management school of AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.

  

  In order to further promote the school's "double first-rate" construction and improve the internationalization level of the college, the School of Management and Economics actively promoted the international certification. In 2014, it applied for the AACSB international certification. In 2015, it passed the AACSB certification committee's initial evaluation and carried out the way to promote the construction through evaluation according to the AACSB certification standards and opinions of the AACSB certification committee. In July 2018, it was reviewed by the AACSB Certification Committee and entered the on-site evaluation stage.

  

  From October 20th to 23rd, the AACSB Certification Committee sent a team of experts to the school for on-site assessment. The expert group was chaired by Professor Robert Dixon, and former dean of the Business School of Durham University in the United Kingdom. Professor Gwangheon Hong, former dean of the Business School of Sogang University, Korea, and Professor Markus Rudolf, Dean of the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Business in Germany were commissioners. During the visit, President Zhang Jun cordially met with the expert group and expressed his warm welcome to the visiting expert group, and introduced the achievements of BIT in the "double first-rate" construction in recent years.

  

  During the preparatory period of the certification, Xiang Changle, executive vice Chairman of the University Council of BIT, held a coordinative meeting attended by the Planning and Finance Department, Office of Human Resources, International Office, Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, Office of International Students, Office of Laboratory Management, Office of Student Employment Guidance, Office of entrepreneurship Guidance, and other functional departments. They have given guidance on the preparation and organization of certification. During the expert visit, he held 17 seminars with the college management, teacher representatives, student representatives and alumni enterprise representatives, and carried out in-depth research comprehensively examine on the strategic development, scientific research, profession construction, teacher development and student training and management. The responsible persons of the relevant functional departments of the school participated in the discussion.

  

  After investigation, the certification experts unanimously agreed that the School of Management and Economics of BIT is a first-class management school, which has given full praise for the college's achievements in strategic development, scientific research, profession construction, teacher development, student training and management in recent years, and also made constructive comments for the further development of the college. Yang Zhihong, vice Chairman of the University Council and Chairman of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, attended the feedback meeting.

  

  Founded in 1916, AACSB is committed to improving and promoting higher education in business administration and accounting. It is a certification body for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in business administration and accounting. Together with EQUIS and AMBA, it has been hailed by the international business management education community as the three international certification organizations for business management. Obtaining the three major certifications is also an important symbol of the world's leading economic management discipline. Previously, the School of Management and Economics passed the AMBA and EQUIS certifications in 2011 and 2014.
