Shenzhen MSU-BIT University Approved for the Formal Establishment by MOE

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, a joint higher education institution founded by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), was approved for the formal establishment in Shenzhen by the Ministry of Education of China (MOE), on October 27th, 2016.
On May 20th of 2014, witnessed by President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Education of China and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia signed the inter-ministerial agreement regarding the establishment of Sino-Russian University, showing the support for the joint university from the state level.
On August 11th of 2014, BIT, MSU and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government signed the tripartite agreement on establishing the joint university; on September 5th of 2014, BIT and MSU signed the founding agreement on the establishment of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University; on August 31st of 2015, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was approved by MOE for the preparation for the formal establishment. On May 6th of 2016, the groundbreaking ceremony was held in Shenzhen. Ms. Liu Yandong, the Vice-premier of China, and Mr. Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Duma of Russia attended the ceremony and laid the first stone for the joint university.
In accordance with the License issued by MOE, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University provides degree programs in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level. The first batch of undergraduate and master students will be admitted in 2017, and the first batch of PhD students will be admitted in 2018.
