CAST Releases list of Young Talents Support Project (2016-2018)

  Recently China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) released the list of the Young Talents Support Project (2016-2018) with 206 young talents selected therein. This is the second time that CAST has released the list of the Young Talents Support Project.


  The Young Talents Support Project is a talent support project launched by CAST in 2015, aiming to assist young scientific talents within golden age of their creativity with outstanding performance and individual development towards academic-scientific leaders, who should also embrace favorable morality, extraordinary professional competence, strong sense of social responsibility, comprehensive quality and cosmopolitan perspective so as to be qualified for the important reserve force for high-level leaders and innovative groups of national main technological fields.


  The project mainly supports the scientific research staff under 32 who has relatively strong innovation capability and development potential in a stable manner. It offers 150 thousand RMB per year to each one for 3 continuous years. The scale of the support is comparatively huge.


  In accordance with the documents issued by CAST, CAST expects to innovate the selection mechanism for young scientific talents, cultivation pattern, evaluation criteria, and evaluation index system, and build a reserve team of national high-level scientific innovation talents. The project is selected, recommended and cultivated by all the group members of CAST.


  In the final list of selected entries, young talents from colleges and universities occupy the majority, among which the talents from Tsinghua University and Beijing Institute of Technology were selected most, reaching 12 people, Beihang University ranked third with 9 selected talents. Besides, there are 8 selected talents from Peking University, and 5 talents from Harbin Institute of Technology and the University of Science and Technology of China. Others from the remaining colleges and universities are less than 5. Complete list is as follows.
