On the morning of March 21st, professor Dwayne McCay, president of Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), and Dr. Monica Baloga, academic vice-president and provost of FIT, paid a visit to Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). Professor Li Hezhang, vice-president of BIT, met the guests at conference room 233, office building 2.

President Li gave the delegation a warm welcome and reviewed the FIT-BIT cooperation in the student co-development and space research policy. He said that on the basis of the cooperation consensus reached by both president McCay and president Zhang Jun during FIT’s visit in November 2018, School of Aerospace Engineering of BIT was actively planning to make substantive headway in the fields of space science and space exploration by promoting talent-training and scientific research projects. He expressed hope that the two universities could progress hand in hand. In the favorable environment of China-US space cooperation, the two universities could continue to work together to design and organize the student science-innovation and space experiment summer program, as well as to deepen academic exchanges and bilateral cooperation in the field of space exploration, space policy and space science, serving the space cooperation between China and the US.

Dwayne McCay expressed the gratitude to BIT for the warm reception. He said that the BIT was an important partner of FIT, and the two universities had both similarities and complementarities in discipline setting, which laid a sound foundation for space cooperation. He highly agreed with the BIT proposals over practical cooperation and indicated that a team led by Baloga and other leaders of relevant departments will be sent to BIT to discuss specific cooperation issues further.
