  Hosted by School of Law, BIT, the International Academic Seminar on a Human Community with a Shared Future: Roots of a New Global Legal Order in European and Chinese Civilization, was held at Conference Room 1, Educational Exchange Centre on June 21 and 22, 2019. Tian Dewen, Associate Director of Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Yu Zhaobo, the vice president of School of Law, BIT, Prof. Anthony Carty, Janne Nijman, Professor of the History and Theory of International Law at the University of Amsterdam, Director of the Asser Institute, The Hague and other scholars at home and abroad participated the Seminar, which is presided over by Yu Peng, Assistant President of School of Law, BIT. Additionally, Tian as well as Meng Qiang , Assistant President of School of Law, gave the opening speech.

  Zhao Tingyang, Researcher & Member of Academic Committee of Institute of Philosophy, CASS, Tian Tao, College of History and Culture, Tianjin Normal University, Dr. Anna Bake, Senior Legal Assistant to the National Human Rights Commission of Greece and other scholars delivered excellent reports on the eight topics including Morality of Rulers and the Decaying of International Law, New Foundation of World Order, Chinese and Western Order and Cultural Conflicts, History of the Rule of International Law, etc. Then, the presenter of each topic made comments on the report, expressed great interest in novel ideas such as combining Buddhist thoughts with linguistic theories, and looked forward to the further in-depth researches.
      The Seminar ended with unanimous praise, which expressed the willingness of the legal people to contribute to the cultural exchanges between China and Europe, deepened the understanding of President Xi Jinping’s initiatives to build a human community with a shared future, and promoted the cultural exchanges and mutual trust between China and Europe.
