In July 2023, BIT's Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center, under the guidance of the China Coal Society, developed and released Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) group standards. These standards, in collaboration with multiple industry units, include guidelines for data management, risk assessment, carbon emission source screening, lifecycle cost accounting, and lifecycle environmental impact assessment in CCUS projects. They fill a significant standards gap in the field.
In response to the national deployment of standardization work, Professor Wei Yiming's team from BIT, together with industry experts and scholars, developed and compiled the five series of CCUS group standards. Suggestions and feedback from relevant enterprises, research institutions, international companies, and the public, were incorporated into the compilation process. These standards provide a foundation for advancing the CCUS system, and promoting the standardized application and industrial development of CCUS technology.
