In September 2017, the BIT History Museum (New Building) was completed on the south second floor of the main building of the National Defense Science and Technology Park on Zhongguancun Campus. The museum covers the history of BIT, showcasing its reputation and scientific and technological achievements across 3,000 square meters of exhibition space. 

The museum is divided into the preface hall and eight exhibition halls in chronological order. Precious historical materials such as objects and photos are presented with detailed display boards, texts and multimedia displays to contextualize the history of BIT development.

In September 2018, one year after its completion, the National Defense Science and Technology History Achievements Exhibition was held in the museum. It presented BIT's research results and contributions in the field of national defense science and technology from the 1950s to the 1990s.

The museum plays an important role as the spiritual home of all BIT people, displaying and teaching the history of the university, and has become an important cultural landmark. It has received numerous visitors, including leaders from various industries, alumni, new teachers and new Party members. To better showcase the university’s history and inform visitors about the past, a special team was established to focus on that history, earning wide praise from visitors.

The BIT History Museum will pass its history on to future generations, open up new sources of strength, and contribute to the "double first-class" construction of the university.
