In May 2018, the Institute of Engineering Medicine was established to promote the integration of science, technology, and medical applications. The institute has formed strategic partnerships with renowned medical institutions such as the Chinese PLA General Hospital and Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. 

Through the PI Team Model, the school brings together experts and research teams to conduct key technology research, innovative product development, and high-level talent training, in the field of medical and engineering integration. 

It has its research headquarters in Zhongguancun and a development center in Liangxiang. The Engineering Medicine and Innovative Applications Beijing New Research and Development Center, located in the Liangxiang Higher Education Park, is an integral part and important base of the institute that aims to support the overall goal of developing medical products by integrating innovation chains, industrial chains, and capital chains. It strives to become a hub for innovative medical product development.
