School of Management and Economics

The Department of Management Engineering was first set up in 1980 and renamed as the School of Management in 1992, which was further renamed the School of Management and Economics in 1998. 

The school has eight departments, namely, management science and logistics, management engineering, applied economics, international trade and finance, accounting, organization and human resource management, technology economy and strategic management, and marketing.

In addition to a Professional Degree Education Joint Center, the school has established several research institutions such as the Beijing Research Center for Sustainable Economic and Social Development, the Aviation Digital Economy Research Base, and the Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center. Additionally, the Management and Economics Experimental Teaching Center is a teaching demonstration center open to teachers and students all day.

The school offers five undergraduate programs, including information management and information systems, business administration, accounting, international economics and trade, and financial technology.

In terms of doctoral programs, it has three programs in management science and engineering, business administration, and applied economics. It also has two interdisciplinary doctoral programs in energy and climate economics and national economic mobilization. The school has postdoctoral research stations in both management science and engineering and business administration.

For master's programs, the school offers three programs in management science and engineering, business administration, and applied economics. It also has two second-level master's programs in energy and climate economics (interdisciplinary) and national economic mobilization (interdisciplinary). Additionally, the school provides four professional master's degree programs, including MBA, EMBA, MEM, and master in professional accounting.

The school's MBA program has received international recognition, being accredited by the AMBA in 2011 and ranking 7th in "China's Most Influential MBA" by World Manager magazine. The program also obtained re-accreditation from the International MBA Association in 2014. In 2015, the school obtained EQUIS certification, becoming one of the few management and economics schools in China’s mainland to hold both EQUIS and AMBA certifications. It further received CAMEA certification in 2016 and re-certification from EQUIS in 2018. In 2019, the school successfully obtained AACSB certification, joining the less than one percent of management schools worldwide to possess all three certifications simultaneously.

There are over 4,300 students in total, including more than 1,400 undergraduate students, over 2,800 master's students, and more than 360 doctoral students.

In the past five years, the school has made significant progress in research, with faculty members having undertaken research projects, securing a total research funding of over 165 million yuan. These projects include a wide range of programs, such as the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation Innovative Research Group, and the National Natural Science Foundation Distinguished Young Scholar program.

The School has completed over 490 research projects, and has received more than ten research achievement awards at the ministerial level. These awards include recognition from the Ministry of Education, the National Energy Administration, and the Beijing municipal government.

Faculty members have also been productive in publications, with over 400 papers indexed by SCI/SSCI and over 100 papers indexed by CSSCI in the past five years.

The school has over 200 faculty and staff, including seven national-level leading talents, 14 national-level young talents, one national-level teaching master, and three Beijing municipal-level teaching masters. There are 49 professors and researchers, and 67 doctoral supervisors among the full-time faculty. Additionally, the school has advisory professors and part-time professors, including academicians, experts in management and economics, and entrepreneurs.
