The "OpenAtom Campus Tour (the Beijing Institute of Technology Station)", hosted by the OpenAtom Foundation and organized by the BIT, was held on Jan 6.
Wang Bo, vice president of the BIT, Wang Weiwei, deputy director of the Information Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Sun Wenlong, chairman of the OpenAtom Foundation, and experts, scholars, and more than 200 students from the BIT, Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huawei, Tencent, and ChinaSoft International participated in the event.

Wang Weiwei said that open source is a new mode of production in the digital era, characterized by openness, collaboration, sharing, and co-governance. It works in tandem with closed source, driving and mutually reinforcing each other, and jointly constructing a prosperous and mutually beneficial software industry ecosystem.
Wang Bo emphasized that the BIT attaches great importance to the cultivation of open source talents. The university has established the School of Information Technology Innovation, initiated the OpenHarmony Talent Class, and set up the Open Atom Open Source Society and the OpenHarmony Technology Club.
In the future, the university will collaborate with the OpenAtom Foundation to promote the cultivation of open source talents and the development of the ecosystem.
Sun Wenlong stated that open source talents have become the foundation of and strategic pillars for the development of the information industry, serving as a key code for achieving technological innovation. He hopes that universities can contribute to open source education, talent cultivation, and open source software development in China.
Feng Guanlin, secretary-general of the OpenAtom Foundation, awarded the title of "Open Source Contributor" to the BIT and presented certificates to the first batch of open source lecturers.
Wu Changgao, dean of the School of Information Technology Innovation at the BIT, delivered a keynote speech on "Deepening Industry-Education Integration and Cultivating Open Source Talents."
During the open source technology forum session, Professor Yuan Ye from the School of Computer Science at the BIT gave a presentation on "Neural Symbol Database Technology and Applications."
Scholars from Peking University's School of Software and Microelectronics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Software, the Institute of Computing Technology, and experts from the OpenAtom Foundation, Tencent, Huawei, ChinaSoft International and others, presented technical reports.
The hosting of the Open Atom Campus Tour (BIT) event has accelerated the innovation iteration and ecological development of high-quality open source projects.
It showcased a batch of outstanding applications of open source projects, highlighting the broad prospects for the development of open source.
