Brilliant and versatile student Medina

Medina Aikbair, a 2018-class undergraduate student, and a 2022-class master's student at the School of Life Science at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), is a Uyghur girl.

This versatile girl maintained a 100 percent excellent rate in the courses she took during her graduate studies. She is also president of the graduate student union and class monitor, and has been honored as one of the most outstanding students in Beijing. 

Medina served as the leading dancer in the school's May Fourth Literary and Art Exhibition performance.

In 2018, Medina was admitted to her desired science experimental class at BIT, crossing a distance of 3,000 kilometers to study in Beijing.

To apply the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom to practice, she actively participates in various scientific research competitions. 

Medina once led a team to win the silver medal at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. 

As the principal person in charge of the project, she won the first prize in the China International "Internet plus" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Beijing, and the second prize in the Beijing University Students' Biological Competition.

Medina focuses her research on the social aging. It seeks early diagnosis methods for neurodegenerative diseases, pursuing early detection and treatment and contributing to healthy aging.

She has participated in the publication of one SCI journal paper, applied for one national invention patent, and published one popular science article in the magazine "University Students."

Medina took part in various large-scale activities organized by the school, served as a leading dancer and organizer, and participated in the university's May Fourth literary and artistic performances and its Dec 9 singing competition.

She is also actively involved in volunteer services, and participates in various student work activities.
