Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has recently wrapped up its international summer program "Study in BIT". The month-long event attracted nearly 500 international students from more than 20 countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the USA.

Through professional courses, advanced academic lectures, innovation and entrepreneurship training, as well as field trips, participants had the chance to broaden their international perspectives and gain a profound understanding of Chinese culture.

The summer program featured a diverse range of themes that included hands-on training in cutting-edge electronic information engineering technology, future low-carbon technology and energy, new energy materials and management and innovation. The students also had the chance to learn some Chinese as well as study traditional Chinese culture, classical Chinese aesthetics and Chinese martial arts.

Engineering and management students engaged in enterprise decision-making digital sandbox simulations, AI-enabled wearable device design, and visits to companies such as Xiaomi, GWM, Baidu, Huawei Automobile and Alibaba, getting a better understanding of China's rapid economic and technological development.

The students also visited famous historical sites such as the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven, while trying their hands at calligraphy, paper cutting, the guqin instrument, traditional Chinese medicine and ceramic arts. The diverse cultural activities helped the students improve their language skills and enhance their cross-cultural communication abilities.

This international summer program has helped enhance BIT’s international standing as well as strengthened the relationships between BIT and various overseas universities. In the coming years, BIT plans to continue providing high quality educational resources and learning experiences for international students.
