The 40th Teachers' Day celebration was held at the Liangxiang campus of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Sept 6.
Zhang Jun, secretary of the CPC BIT Committee, Jiang Lan, president of BIT, BIT's faculty, and both retired and newly-employed teachers, gathered at the event to celebrate a day dedicated to their profession.
During the event, a number of lecturers were awarded for their hard work and outstanding contributions to the university.
In a highlight moment, this year's BIT "Maoxun Lifetime Achievement Award" was presented to academician Zhou Liwei, a specialist in electronic optics and optoelectronic imaging at the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Zhou is an explorer of China's "Eye of the Night" who has long been rooted in the field of optics, filling technological gaps and nurturing numerous outstanding talents. He is an outstanding representative of the senior generation of scientific and educational contributors at the university and a role model for all BIT staff in the new era.
The ceremony wrapped up with performances that paid tribute to the founders of and outstanding scholars from the university.
