Beijing Institute of Technology hosts the Preparatory Meeting for the Global University Alliance for Outer Space Policy and Law Education in Beijing.
The Preparatory Meeting for the Global University Alliance for Outer Space Policy and Law Education (GUAOSPLE) was grandly held at the Zhongguancun Campus of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Dec 15.
Government officials, representatives from international organizations in the field of outer space, as well as the experts and scholars from the universities in 15 countries were among the almost 50 people attending the meeting.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Guoyu, dean of the Institute of Space Policy and Law at BIT, introduced GUAOSPLE's purpose of gathering, integrating, and sharing high-quality outer space law and policy education resources globally.
Wang also highlighted the initial concepts, and anticipated collaborative initiatives of the GUAOSPLE. He emphasized that the establishment of the alliance is crucial for enhancing the overall global standards of outer space law and policy education and research, particularly in developing countries, and plays a significant role in supporting global governance of outer space.
During the keynote session, 11 distinguished guests from home and abroad delivered insightful presentations on the conference theme.
The meeting focused on in-depth discussions regarding the establishment of the GUAOSPLE, enhancing the understanding of international organizations, government departments, higher education institutions, and relevant think tanks on the current status of global outer space law and policy education.
This marks a significant step forward in the establishment of GUAOSPLE, further elevating the international influence of space law disciplines of BIT.
