Mikhail Gordin, president of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), led a team to visit Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Dec 23.
During the visit, Gordin spoke about the educational philosophy, historical development, academic disciplines and research achievements of BMSTU.
He said that the university has been committed to nurturing future engineers by closely integrating education and practice, establishing research centers through university-enterprise cooperation, and emphasizing the quality of research output.
Gordin emphasized the high importance BMSTU places on friendly exchanges between China and Russia, highlighting BIT as a model and benchmark for Sino-Russian cooperative education. He expressed hopes for future collaboration with BIT in areas such as underwater robotics, new lunar rovers, satellite development platforms and new solar panels.
Gordin also spoke about student exchange programs organized by BMSTU's aerospace center and warmly invited students of BIT to actively participate.
Jiang Lan, BIT's president, warmly welcomed Mikhail Gordin and his delegation and expressed appreciation for BMSTU's special status and outstanding achievements in the field of engineering education in Russia and worldwide.
Jiang reviewed the fruitful results of over 70 years of exchange and cooperation between the two universities, highlighting BIT's recent high-quality and rapid development in cultivating professionals, scientific research, team building and open education.
Jiang also spoke about his commitment to continuing cooperation with BMSTU to promote the development of BIT-BMSTU Joint School and jointly nurture international talents.
BMSTU, founded in 1830, is the oldest and most prestigious technical university in Russia. It ranks first among Russian technical universities and second overall in Russia.
In 2021, the BIT-BMSTU Joint School was granted qualification by the Chinese Ministry of Education as a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution. It is a teaching and research institution jointly established by the two universities for undergraduate and master's degree education, aiming to cultivate innovative and globally competitive leading talents in the field of science, technology, and engineering.
