Beijing Institute of Technology's team wins the championship at the national final of the 10th China Graduate Future Flight Vehicle Innovation Competition.
The Fei Ying team from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) won the championship at the national final of the 10th China Graduate Future Flight Vehicle Innovation Competition recently held at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University.
The Fei Ying team won the award for its "Air-Sea Cooperative Search and Rescue Intelligent Unmanned System".
Ten other projects received the first prizes at the finals.
Since the start of this competition in May 2024, 727 teams comprising 3,993 graduate students from 184 domestic and international training institutions have participated, making it the largest scale of its kind in the competition's history.
Responding to needs in the maritime power strategy, the Fei Ying team came up with new quality productive forces and designed a set of Air-Sea Cooperative Search and Rescue Intelligent Unmanned Systems for maritime rescue technology. Applying three core technologies -- cluster coordinated search in high dynamic GNSS-denied environments, precise docking with non-cooperative targets and multi-constraint landing guidance -- the team has overcome the bottleneck problem of existing rescue methods being unable to adapt to extreme sea conditions.
The Fei Ying team is a group of BIT undergraduate, master's and doctoral students working for technological innovation. It recruits members from throughout the university and works on technological innovation based on the Institute of Unmanned Aircraft Autonomous Control, exploring the application of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology in drones.
Fei Ying emphasizes both scientific research and professional development, promoting "innovation and entrepreneurship" through platform support. By participating in high-level competitions in the field of unmanned systems, it drives professional development, builds discipline, engages in frontier basic research, working for breakthroughs in key technologies, and internationalization, and forms a comprehensive professional development model integrating undergraduate, master's and doctoral education.
