Beijing Institute of Technology and Fangshan district jointly construct an innovation platform cluster.

The signing ceremony for the collaborative establishment of the "Beijing Institute of Technology Innovation Platform Cluster" by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and the People's Government of Fangshan District was held at BIT's Liangxiang Campus on Dec 25.

Jiang Lan, BIT president, and Di Zhixin, deputy secretary of the CPC Fangshan District Committee and head of the district government, signed the cooperation agreement. The two sides will jointly construct the "Beijing Institute of Technology Innovation Platform Cluster", creating a new hub of industry-university-research integration innovation as well as a demonstration highland of science and technology system reform.

Yang Bo, secretary of the CPC Fangshan District Committee, expressed the district’s gratitude to BIT for its strong support for the development of the region. Yang said that Fangshan district will fully support the construction of the cluster. He said he hopes that both sides will accelerate project construction, further improve supporting facilities, attract enterprises and laboratories to settle in, explore innovative mechanisms and introduce high-tech talents.

Jiang Lan expressed his hope that both sides take the signing of the cooperative construction agreement as an opportunity and would further promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, nurture high-level innovative talents, form a national strategic scientific and technological force and jointly create a benchmark for the coordinated development of universities and local areas.

Zhang Jun, secretary of the CPC BIT Committee, pointed out that the joint construction of the cluster signifies that both sides are engaging in strategic cooperation at a higher level, in broader fields and with greater depth. Through concrete actions to build a national-level innovation platform cluster, the goal is to gather top scientists, promote technological innovation and the transformation of achievements, thereby fostering high-quality development for both Fangshan district and the university.
