CityU delegation visits BIT to enhance cooperation

Zhou Wanlei and Ip Kuai Peng, vice-rectors of the City University of Macau (CityU) led a delegation to visit the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on March 10.

Wei Yiming, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BIT Committee and BIT’s vice-president, warmly welcomed the delegation.

Wei spoke about the high-quality and high-speed development of BIT in recent years in matters such as talent cultivation, scientific research, team building, open education and the construction of BIT´s Zhuhai campus. He said that deepening the coordinated development of the Chinese mainland and Macau universities in education, science and technology, and recruiting professionals are of great significance. BIT looks forward to practical cooperation with CityU in cutting-edge technological innovation, joint cultivation of professionals and exchanges with Portuguese-speaking countries to promote collaboration between the two universities and advance together in sync with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zhou expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception from BIT and spoke about the development history, educational features and advantageous disciplines of CityU. He said that the two universities could leverage their respective advantageous disciplines to jointly establish collaborative laboratories in key industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and promote student exchange programs.

Ip specifically highlighted the unique achievements of CityU in Portuguese-speaking country studies, Sino-Portuguese technology transfer and the preservation of Sino-Portuguese cultural heritage, adding that he looked forward to enhanced cooperation between the two universities in relevant fields.

The two sides had in-depth discussions on topics such as the construction of joint laboratories, regional country studies and technology transfer.
