The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations of Uzbekistan, Kungirotboy Sharipov, led a delegation of six people on a visit to the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on May 16.
Jiang Lan, the BIT president, warmly welcomed the group and briefed them about the recent high-quality development of BIT.
Jiang also proposed three initiatives for future cooperation: establishing links between the BIT schools and top universities in Uzbekistan and implementing dual-degree programs; jointly boosting the new energy vehicle industry tailored for Uzbekistan and Central Asia; and establishing an integrated education system in Uzbekistan involving BIT.
Sharipov expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at BIT and praised the university's achievements in engineering, information technology and materials science. He spoke about the current development status of higher education in Uzbekistan and emphasized that China is an important educational cooperation partner for Uzbekistan.
Sharipov invited BIT to establish a branch campus in Uzbekistan, focusing on cultivating high-quality engineering and technical talents in fields such as information technology, artificial intelligence, big data, network security, mechanical engineering, robotics and green energy. He said that he hoped these talents would serve as a bridge for technology transfer and educational cooperation between China and Uzbekistan.
