Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) hosted a performance of La Traviata by the China National Opera House on June 10.
The classic performance was a part of the "University Artistry" program at BIT's Liangxiang Campus, which was attended by more than 1,000 faculty and students.
China's National Opera House staged La Traviata for the first time in 1956 and, in the years since, the opera has preserved the essence of the Italian opera bel canto tradition in performance style while incorporating expressive forms that resonate with contemporary audiences. This has made the opera a masterpiece of the China National Opera House.
In recent years, BIT has adhered to the principles of aesthetic education, aesthetic enhancement, and aesthetic cultivation, organizing the "University Artistry" - a series of cultural performances activities and specially introducing high-level performances with profound ideas and artistic heights. These activities provide a high-level cultural and artistic observation platform for faculty and students of the university, creating a healthy and positive campus cultural atmosphere.
