On August 30, a delegation from Uzbekistan visited the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
BIT Vice President Wang Bencong warmly welcomed the group and highlighted the recent interactions and exchanges between BIT and various Uzbek universities, government departments, and related institutions.
Wang stated that BIT actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative and is committed to promoting the joint establishment of an Intelligent Electric Vehicle Laboratory with the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME). He expressed hope that the relevant departments in Uzbekistan would support the continued deepening of cooperation between the two universities in scientific research and joint training so as to help boost the bilateral cooperation to new heights.
Otabek Makhkamov, Uzbekistan's deputy minister of higher education, science and innovation, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by BIT and provided an overview of the current state of higher education development in Uzbekistan.
Makhkamov emphasized that China is a significant strategic partner for Uzbekistan, and the Uzbek side highly values cooperation with China in the field of higher education. As one of China's top universities, BIT will receive full support and assistance from his department in advancing its various collaborations with TIIAME University.

During the visit, TIIAME and BIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the "China-Uzbekistan Intelligent Electric Vehicle Joint Laboratory".
