Coinciding with the 85th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), the themed symphony concert "Celebrating 85 Years: A New Chapter in Melody" had a spectacular opening on the evening of Sept 29 at BIT's Wenbo Center. More than 1,000 audiences, including university leaders, alumni representatives, faculty and students, participated in the event.
The China Philharmonic Orchestra showcased their exceptional artistry by performing both Chinese and international classics, including "Ode to the Red Flag" (Hong Qi Song), "Swan Lake,"and "Nan Ni Wan".
In addition, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside with BIT student representatives, performed the university anthem. The 85-year journey of the university unfolded like a scroll, as the catchy melody and the grand, majestic chorus inspired the audience of faculty and students to wave Chinese flags and sing along passionately, bringing the atmosphere to a climax.
After the performance, BIT President Jiang Lan had a cordial exchange with the students on-site. He said that the performance was a high-level artistic feast, and the students demonstrated exquisite singing skills and vibrant youthful energy in their collaboration with the Philharmonic Orchestra, showcasing the uplifting and progressive spirit of the people at BIT.
