A delegation of four, led by Modesto Gómez Crespo, Cuba's vice-minister of higher education, visited the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Nov 11.

Yang Fan, deputy secretary of the CPC BIT Committee, warmly welcomed Gómez on his first visit and highlighted BIT's significant achievements in serving China's strategic needs and advancing cutting-edge technological innovation.

Yang emphasized the long-standing friendship between China and Cuba, noting that higher education collaboration is key to strengthening bilateral relations. He expressed BIT's willingness to work with the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education to explore closer collaboration models, deepen exchanges on technological innovation, graduate training, and educational governance modernization, and provide growth opportunities for the youth of both countries.

Gómez expressed his gratitude for BIT’s warm reception, noting Cuba’s crucial stage of reform and innovation in higher education and its focus on practical cooperation with Chinese universities, especially BIT, known for its research capabilities. He praised BIT's achievements in international talent cultivation, cutting-edge technology, and integrating medicine and engineering. Gómez looks forward to deeper collaboration in scientific research, cadre training, and student development, aiming to create a new model for Sino-Cuban educational cooperation.

During the visit, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on collaborative scientific research, faculty and student exchanges, and joint talent cultivation, laying a solid foundation for further Sino-Cuban cooperation in higher education and technology.
