Spain's UPM Delegation visits BIT

A research team led by Professor A. J. Dos Santos-García and Professor J. Rodríguez Chueca from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) visited Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Dec 11.

The visit focused on joint talent cultivation and cutting-edge scientific research exchanges.

Professor Zhang Jiatao, dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at BIT, warmly welcomed the UPM delegation on behalf of the university.

Professor Zhang highlighted that this collaborative exchange is a vivid demonstration of the friendly relations between China and Spain and further deepens the longstanding cooperation between the two universities. He expressed hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity for both sides to engage in closer cooperation in areas such as international talent cultivation and collaborative efforts on cutting-edge and joint research projects, aiming for fruitful outcomes.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on joint talent cultivation, exchanging views on key issues such as curriculum design, credits recognition, and joint training program models.

Following the meeting, the China-Spain Forum on New Energy and Environmental Catalysis Technology was held.

Professor Zhang delivered a speech for the academic exchange, encouraging scholars from both sides to speak freely and engage in deep discussions to spark innovations.

Five scholars from China and Spain, including professors A. J. Dos Santos-García, J. Rodríguez Chueca and Zhang Yaoyuan, delivered outstanding academic presentations on cutting-edge research topics such as new energy development, environmental catalytic materials, and pollution control technologies. The presentations were detailed, and sparked lively discussions among the attending faculty and students from both countries.

The UPM delegation's visit to BIT and the academic exchange event have paved the way for both universities to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with cross-cultural communication skills and a global vision, laying a solid foundation for future joint research projects and advancing educational and technological cooperation.
