Recently, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Huawei launched the world's first AI Practice Laboratory (AIPL), a pioneering model aimed at exploring new paradigms in AI practical education.

The AIPL, based on national AI industry-education integration platforms and key autonomous intelligent system labs, is the first full implementation of the "theory-practice-application innovation" concept in university AI laboratories.

The lab is set to transform disciplines such as chemistry, law, economics, management, and education by integrating AI into their curricula. Students will engage in professional learning, research innovation, and practical training within the lab.

Leveraging BIT's strengths in AI and Huawei's advanced computing power and large model technology, the lab offers a comprehensive AI practice teaching solution. This includes AI infrastructure, training software, teaching resources, and application scenarios, enabling students to learn AI through practical experience.

AIPL provides a cutting-edge technology platform and extensive teaching resources, building a "general + specialized" curriculum system. This system dynamically integrates the latest AI technologies, aligning with the university's strengths and the diverse needs of its departments, significantly enhancing students' innovative and practical skills.

In collaboration with Huawei and ChinaSoft International EduTech, BIT offers a "Self-Intelligent Cognitive Practice" course that blends theory with practice. This course, for first-year undergraduates, focuses on industry needs, creating a self-sustained AI teaching ecosystem covering domestic NPU computing power, large models, computing frameworks, HarmonyOS, and intelligent robotics. It reduces reliance on foreign technologies like GPU computing, Pytorch, and ROS, empowering students to master domestic AI technologies.

The lab also emphasizes practical skills and teamwork, encouraging students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions with comprehensive guidance.

BIT has been deeply involved in AI education for years. Since establishing the School of AI in May 2025, it has continuously explored new paths for interdisciplinary AI talent cultivation. The collaboration with Huawei on the AIPL model is a significant step forward in setting a benchmark for university-industry educational cooperation, addressing national strategies and tackling challenges in AI education.
