The Morocco regional round of the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2026) took place from July 27 to 28.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, and co-hosted by BIT and the Sino-North Africa Education Innovation Association in collaboration with Université Hassan II in Morocco.

The competition attracted over 2,000 young participants from 10 countries, including Morocco, France, Germany, and Romania, with a total of 744 innovation and entrepreneurship projects submitted.

After rigorous evaluation by the organizing committee, 28 outstanding teams advanced to the Morocco regional finals. The projects focused on cutting-edge scientific and technological fields, showcasing the innovative thinking, solid practical skills, and broad international perspectives of young students from various countries.

After several rounds of intense competition, one champion, four runner-up teams and six third-place teams were recognized.

Concurrent with the competition, a special industry-academia-research exhibition was held, featuring four main exhibition areas: the competition gold award showcase, Chinese and Moroccan universities, Chinese enterprises, and Moroccan companies and associations. The exhibition attracted participation from over 30 domestic and international enterprises and universities.

At the closing ceremony of the event on July 28, the China-Africa Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Joint Laboratory was officially launched. The laboratory is guided by the UNESCO Liaison Office to the African Union and initiated by BIT in collaboration with Moroccan universities.

The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Africa, as well as the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between China and Morocco. As the lead organizer, BIT was responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of the event, ensuring its professional standards, wide reach, and significant impact, thereby laying a solid foundation for deepening scientific and technological exchanges between Chinese and African youth.

The successful conduct of this series of events is one of the important achievements of BIT's "Year of International Cooperation" strategic deployment.

Looking ahead, BIT will continue to expand channels for engagement with African universities and enterprises, steadily advance the cultivation of international innovative talent, and contribute more significantly to the deepening of mutual learning and high-quality development of China-Africa education and technology collaboration.
