On the morning of November 22, the 13th Five-Year Plan Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition of Beijing Institute of Technology was opened in Zhongguancun Campus. Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, and Zhang Jun, President of the university, unveiled the exhibition together.

As one of the series of activities of the 14th Five-Year Plan of BIT and the 6th Congress of the Association of Science and Technology, this exhibition comprehensively reviewed the achievements of scientific and technological innovation of the university in the past five years and fully demonstrated the achievements of the university in strengthening basic research, conquering the "neck" core key technology, serving the major national strategies, improving the level of humanities and social sciences research, building first-class platforms and high-end think tanks, and accelerating the transformation of results.

Innovation Leads and Enlightens the Future

The 13th Five-Year Plan Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition of BIT

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, BIT insisted on facing the world’s science and technology frontier, the main battlefield of economy, the major needs of the country and people’s life and health, vigorously promoted the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, The development of science and technology accelerates, the innovation system is more complete, the innovation environment is constantly optimized, the innovation capacity is significantly enhanced, and the strength of science and technology leaps to a new level.

In the past five years, the school has won 21 national science and technology awards, the first prize for three consecutive years. BIT has won 135 awards at the provincial and ministerial level, 2 special awards in the national key areas, 2 science and technology innovation team awards. Investment in science and technology exceeded 18.2 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 16.79%. Five new members of the two academies were elected, the number of "four young" talents increased 7.6 times, and the proportion of high-level talents among full-time teachers reached 13%.


01 Integration of Science and Engineering

BIT insists on the integration of science disciplines and engineering disciplines, and implements the dual support model of "supporting free academic exploration" and "encouraging major basic research". A number of major original achievements have emerged in ultrafast laser micro and nanomanufacturing, anomalous Hall effect, autonomous intelligent unmanned systems, new system radar, and structural mechanics.

02 Serve for the national major strategic needs

BIT insists on serving the major strategic needs of the country, and carries out technical research in digital performance simulation of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games, scientific training equipment, electric vehicles for extreme cold environments, and carbon-neutral regulation, etc., which strongly supports the Winter Olympic Games with science and technology.

World-leading technology for new energy vehicles

Digital simulation technology provides scientific and technological support for the Beijing Olympic Games, Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, the 70th National Day parade/gala, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, and other large-scale national events.

BIT research team applied digital performance technology to build a three-dimensional simulation system, which provided a full-factor, all-round and full-process design simulation of the details of the 100th-anniversary celebration of the Party and the CCTV broadcast screen, providing a basis for the command to make decisions

Self-developed video coding and decoding, rendezvous and docking technologies

     

Since 2011, BIT has been contributing to the space rendezvous and docking

The spacecraft rendezvous and docking technology independently developed by BIT has completed the flow of the Beidou II baseband processing chip, realizing a major breakthrough in the "Chinese core" of China's Beidou II system. In the field of Mars exploration, it has carried out the research on the autonomous landing technology of Mars landers, which has supported the major project of deep space exploration in China and realized the autonomous matching landing technology of Mars landers.

03 Build a national strategic science and technology force

BIT insists on building a national strategic science and technology force with more than 20 new national and provincial science and technology innovation platforms

In 2018, the State Key Laboratory of "Explosive Science and Technology" was assessed as "excellent".

High-level construction of research and experimental bases outside Beijing has laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the disciplines of "Weapons Science and Technology" and "Materials Science and Engineering".

04 Actively serve the needs of regional economic and social development

BIT has established strategic partnerships with more than 100 large enterprises and top universities, and has laid out and built more than ten campus and local cooperation institutions

The university has set up six major sections in line with the national regional strategic layout and matching the characteristics of local industries.

05 Promote the cross-fertilization of science, technology and literature

BIT has vigorously promoted the cross-fertilization of science, technology and literature. The funding for social science funds has doubled compared with the 12th Five-Year Plan. BIT has won three provincial and ministerial awards for outstanding achievements in scientific research (humanities and social sciences), and four research institutions have been selected as source think tanks for the China Think Tank Index (CTTI).

The coupled economic-climate model to assess the relationship between carbon emission reduction and economic growth was selected as one of the "100 most influential international academic papers in China" in 2016 and 2017.
