On the morning of November 5th, the Election at Expiration of Office Terms of the Strategic Advisory Committee and the Strategic Development Seminar of the School of Management and Economics, BIT, were held at the Main Building. Hu Haiyan, Academician of CAS and former President of BIT, Chen Xiaohong, Academician of CAE Member and the Secretary of the Party Committee of Hunan University of Technology and Business, Li Zhimin, former Director of the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education, Chen Guoqing, Senior Professor of Liberal Arts at Tsinghua University, Chen Xiaotian, former Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Li Shantong, former Director of the Department of the Development Strategy and Regional Economic Research of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Wang Chongming, Senior Professor of Humanities of Zhejiang University and Chairman of the AMBA International Accreditation Committee in China, Dušan Mramor, former Vice-Chairman of the Slovenian Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee, Julio Urgel Varela, Professor of IE Business School in Spain and Senior Advisor at EFMD, Tian-Shyug Lee, former President of Fu Jen Catholic University, Kwok Kee Wei, Vice-President of Singapore Management University, T.C. Edwin Cheng, Dean of the School of Business at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kyeongwon Kim, Vice-President of Sejong University, Yang Lishan, Director of the Beijing Institute of Technology Education Foundation, Shang Jiyong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wanda Holdings Group Co., Ltd., Zhang Yang, Founder of Sanbo Brain Hospital Management Group Co., Ltd., Sun Changshen, Chairman of Beijing LIH International Medical Investment Management Co., Ltd., and Li Jie, Executive Vice-President of Government Affairs and Legal Affairs of Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. attended. Qin Zhihui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of BIT, Wei Yiming, Member of the Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice-President, relevant leaders of the School of Management and Economics, and representatives of young teachers also attended. The conference was presided over by Wang Zhaohua, Dean of the School of Management and Economics, BIT.

Academician Long Teng, President of BIT, delivered a speech to the conference via video. He points out that the Strategic Advisory Committee is a high-level platform for communication between the School of Management and Economics and various sectors of society, and an important guarantee for the School to be world-class. He hopes that experts can provide valuable opinions and introduce high-quality social resources into the School to support its better development.

During the appointment ceremony, Qin Zhihui and Wei Yiming respectively issued letters of appointment to the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and members.

Academician Hu Haiyan, the chairman of the new term, stated that he would collaborate with domestic and foreign experts to leverage collective wisdom and help the School of Management and Economics become first-class.

At the seminar on the strategic development of the School chaired by Academician Hu Haiyan, Wang Zhaohua made a report. The committee members fully affirmed the development of the School and provided guidance. The School’s development should be “towering”, aim at major national strategic needs, strengthen forward-looking layout, expand educational space, and strive for educational resources; further explore, cultivate, and leverage the advantages of science and engineering, and plan for distinctive development; refine the characteristics of subject direction, cultivate and develop advantageous subject groups; innovate talent cultivation models and highlight the core position of talent cultivation.

Wei Yiming has high expectations for the School of Management and Economics, and hopes that the leadership team of the school will carefully consider and implement the opinions and suggestions of the attending experts, leading the healthy, rapid, and high-quality development of the School.

After the meeting, the attendees jointly visited the School’s Historical Museum, laboratories, and Professional Degree Education Joint Center.
