Congrats! | Prof. Wei Yiming of BIT was elected as academician of German National Academy of Engineering

Recently,

German National Academy of Engineering announced

the results of the 2023 academician election, and

Prof. Wei Yiming of BIT was elected.

In June, he was also elected as

foreign academician of Russian Academy of Engineering.


Prof. Wei has been engaged in energy and environmental system engineering, carbon emission reduction project management, climate policy research, and higher education for a long time, whose achievements have won 7 first prizes such as the Natural Science Award and the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education (of which 6 are ranked first), as well as the first prize for national teaching achievements and the second prize for the 1st National Excellent Textbook. He has been awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young (2004), the Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education (2008), and the Innovation Group Leader of the National Science and Technology Foundation of China, and has been selected as a leading talent in the National High Level Talent Plan. Prof. Wei has won honors such as the National Innovation Award, State Council Government Subsidy, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Beijing Excellent Teacher, and National Excellent Science and Technology Worker. He has been selected as a globally highly cited scientist for many years and is the co-convener of the “Energy System” working group of the 6th Assessment Report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). His election signifies that BIT’s work in the fields of energy and environmental system engineering, carbon reduction project management, energy and climate policy has further been recognized by the international academic community, which is one of the iconic achievements of BIT’s construction of a world-class university.


German National Academy of Engineering

German National Academy of Engineering (“Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften” in German) is the highest honorary and advisory academic institution in the German engineering and technology community, composed of academicians, conducting strategic research on important national engineering science and technology issues, providing decision-making consulting, and committed to promoting the development of engineering science and technology. German National Academy of Engineering has over 600 academicians, all of whom are outstanding researchers from the fields of engineering, natural sciences, and humanities and social sciences.
