In May 2021, Wang Zengquan and several other alumni of the former 32781 class of the School of Machinery and Vehicles returned to BIT to specially visit professors Wu Dachang, Wang Changmin and Qin Youfang. Wang Changmin carefully packed his "gift" and gave it to Wang Zengquan, a former student and chief scientist of China Ordnance Group.
Gentlemen in their 80s and students over half a hundred years old, the faded finished papers and several yellow drawings are still so familiar with the teachings that touch people's hearts, although time has faded from youth. In the clear sky, 70 salutes resounded through the sky, the bright five-star red flag rose slowly, the ten mile long street, rolling iron flow, and the majestic national prestige attracted the attention of the world.
On the morning of October 1, 2019, the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the National Day was grandly held in Tiananmen Square. In a ward 10 kilometers from the square, a pair of eyes stared at the picture on the TV screen and burst out the brilliance that had not been seen for a long time.
The owner of these eyes is Liu Fushui. He is a professor in the Department of Energy and Power Engineering of the School of Machinery and Vehicles and the chief designer of the power plant of a national special vehicle. At this time, Liu Fushui was suffering from cancer. He could only focus on the results of his efforts through TV in the ward and bloom in front of Tiananmen Square.

"Serving the motherland is my unswerving ambition!" In 2003, after three years of hard study in Germany, Dr. Liu Fushui, 40, graduated successfully. Facing the choice of whether to return home, Liu Fushui did not hesitate.
Liu Fushui, both undergraduate and master, majored in Internal Combustion Engine of Beijing Institute of Technology. As a standard "32" person, he stayed in school after his master's degree and devoted himself to his favorite vehicle power research. In 2000, Liu Fushui went to Germany to study for his doctorate and devoted himself to engine design theory. In a foreign country, "learning knowledge well and serving the motherland" has become the only belief in Liu Fushui's heart. After returning home, Liu Fushui couldn't wait to invest in the research projects urgently needed by the country. After 12 years of hard work, he finally developed a special vehicle engine representing the highest level in China.
"May China's energy and power disciplines become one of the most popular in the world as soon as possible! May the Chinese nation become a design and manufacturing power as soon as possible!" On September 11, 2020, 57 year old Liu Fushui left without time to check hundreds of unread teacher's Day blessings in his mobile phone. On his deathbed, what he left to his family, colleagues and students is still the deep patriotism and ambition to serve the country in the bones of the "32" people of BIT.

"In that year, Mr. Cheng Changqi independently designed the spring foundation and developed a universal single cylinder performance test machine with an old Toyota gasoline engine, a cooling system made of gasoline barrels and small water pumps, as well as test instruments made of portable mechanical tachometer, mechanical stopwatch and glass oil gauge."
Qin Youfang, a 90 year old former president of the College of Cehicle Engineering, recalled that Cheng Changqi, an old professor of 32 majors in the college, was still full of admiration.
In 1953, Cheng Changqi, 26, is a young teaching assistant majoring in 32 at Beijing Institute of Technology (the predecessor of Beijing Institute of Technology). It is his task to prepare for the establishment of BIT's power laboratory. Cheng Changqi has "nothing" except two temporary bungalows, but his sense of mission to cultivate urgently needed talents for the country makes Cheng Changqi "have everything" 。 Since then, in less than a year, Cheng Changqi led Liu Zongchang, Zhong Jingfang, Chen Ying, Guan Mingyue and other professors to check literature and design, built an experimental platform that can test engine crankshaft speed and fuel consumption, and successfully opened a teaching experiment of engine principle for 1950 students. At that time, there were only two such experimental platforms in the country. After 25 years, Cheng Changqi, who has become the leader of 32 disciplines, won the National Science Conference Award in 1978 for "Research on Omega Combustion Chamber of High-speed Diesel Engine".
"For the country, as long as you can't die, you'll die." The simple words, imbued with the commitment to becoming a powerful country, are deeply engraved in the bones of the "32" people. With the rotation of years and the flow of time, the red gene is still inherited from generation to generation, and the baton of a powerful country has been steadily handed over to the new generation of "32" people.
In 2021, Cui Tao, a 40 year old "32" teacher, tried to resist the high altitude reaction of splitting headache in the cold plateau area of minus 40 ℃, took off his gloves from time to time, and connected the test cable with his red hands. Looking at the distance, the white snow peak, set off by the five-star red flag, is particularly bright!
Establishing morality and cultivating people is the mission of continuous inheritance.

At the entrance of the East Building of the Engine Experimental Building of BIT, two engine drawings drawn by 32 professors and students in the 1950s and 1980s are hung. Every teacher and student passing by can't help glancing. The rigorous temperament contained in it deeply touches the heart.
"The university should give every student the most wonderful youth. As a teacher, it is a very beautiful thing to keep a memory of their growth." Wang Changmin, mentioned at the beginning of the article, retained these two drawings. After graduating from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1956, Wang Changmin came to Beijing Institute of Technology to teach with the ambition of becoming an excellent university teacher of Internal Combustion Engine. At that time, domestic colleges and universities studied the Soviet model and paid special attention to practice in teaching. In order to enable students to carry out good practical learning, Wang Changmin worked hard to establish a practical training system for 32 professional students from engine disassembly practice to curriculum design, production practice and graduation design, and often ran between schools and internship units to prepare students for internship. At that time, just after the Spring Festival, students were going to practice. Professor Wang Guoyu, director of the Institute of Fluid Mechanical Engineering, talked about his field with relish.
Wang Guoyu has worked deeply in the field of fluid mechanics for many years and led the team to stick to the research of cavitation flow. Cavitation refers to the phenomenon that the liquid on the surface of the shell of an object moving at high speed in water vaporizes due to high velocity. If the cavitation problem is not solved well, the high-speed movement of objects in water will lose control, and the consequences are very serious.
