On October 14, Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Institute of Technology, and Long Teng, President, led a team to Henan Province for investigation and signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build the Zhengzhou Research Institute of Beijing Institute of Technology. Lou Yangsheng, Secretary of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, provincial leaders Chen Xing, An Wei, Wang Gang, Song Zhenghui, Zhengzhou Mayor He Xiong, Wang Bo, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology, and others attended the signing ceremony.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Lou Yangsheng welcomed Zhang Jun and Long Teng and their delegation, and expressed his gratitude to Beijing Institute of Technology for its long-term support and assistance to Henan. He emphasized that Henan has fully implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, proactively connected with the national strategic science and technology force system, and made strategic arrangements to build a national innovation highland and an important talent center. Innovation has become the main theme and the strongest voice in the construction of modern Henan. Beijing Institute of Technology is the first university of science and engineering founded by the Communist Party of China. It has strong strength and talents and has a long-term and good cooperative relationship with Henan. The unveiling of the Zhengzhou Research Institute of Beijing Institute of Technology marks a new stage of cooperation between the two parties. Henan Province will fully support the construction of Beijing Institute of Technology Zhengzhou Research Institute, hoping that the institute will focus on major national strategic needs, actively serve local development, gather resources and talents, bravely climb scientific peaks, deepen institutional innovation, and become a first-class new research and development institution and a high-level research and development institution. The R&D platform and model of provincial-university cooperation provide strong support for the construction of modern Henan.

Long Teng expressed his gratitude to Henan Province and Zhengzhou City for their strong support to the development and construction of Beijing Institute of Technology, and introduced the cooperation between BIT and Henan Province. He said that in recent years, BIT has adhered to the principle of "implementation, transformation, and first-class", focusing on the urgent needs of local industrial development, optimizing and integrating BIT's superior resources in terms of integrating into the territory, collaborative education, and attracting talents to ensure the implementation of the output of the institute. It has been implemented and formed a unique construction and development model of BIT's off-site research institute. BIT will continue to accelerate the construction and development of Zhengzhou Research Institute with a pragmatic, realistic and down-to-earth style, and use the construction of Zhengzhou Research Institute as a bridge to promote first-class scientific and technological innovation talents, projects and industries to take root in Henan Province, contributing BIT’s strength to the economic and social development of Henan Province and Zhengzhou City.

Zhang Jun said in his speech that the cooperation between BIT and Henan Province has a solid foundation and broad prospects. In recent years, BIT's various undertakings have entered a new stage of high-quality development from rapid development. At the new starting point of deepening cooperation between Henan Province, Zhengzhou City and BIT, it is hoped that the three parties will adhere to the principles of "collaboration, co-shaping, co-construction and sharing", adhere to innovation leadership, strengthen regional coordination, gather innovative advantages, and accumulate deep driving forces, working together to build a leading regional innovation community in the Central Plains region.
