In order to deeply promote the theme of learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly grasp the general requirements of "strengthening party spirit and emphasizing practice to build new achievements", implement the fundamental task of establishing moral education, and provide strong talent support for China's participation in global governance, on the afternoon of June 12, Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of BIT and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, conducted a research on the training of innovative talents in international organizations. Mr. Ma Tao, Director of ICAO Asia Pacific Office, and Mr. Lv Xinming, Director of Airworthiness Certification Center of CAAC and China's Permanent Representative to the ICAO Council, attended the activities. All the students of the Global Governance Excellence Class discussed and exchanged views with the above three experts on various issues such as personal literacy enhancement, innovation awareness cultivation, serving national strategic needs, global aviation governance and serving in international organizations. The exchange session was hosted by Prof. Liu Hao, Executive Chairman of the School of Global Governance.

Ma Tao shared his experience of serving in international organizations and encouraged the students to improve their comprehensive education, strengthen their knowledge reserve, grasp the current good opportunity of learning and development, and provide Chinese solutions for global governance.

Lv Xinming introduced the current situation of civil aviation operation and research and development as well as the future development direction, combining his own experience and the actual work of airworthiness certification of domestic large aircraft. He expressed his hope that the students would grow up to be highly qualified talents of international organizations and global governance with a sense of cooperation and a solid knowledge base.

Zhang Jun said that this research is special in four aspects: first, it is a special moment, which coincides with the visit of the ICAO delegation to China and the development of in-depth cooperation; second, we are at a special place since we discussed the theme of peace and development at Beihu Lake of Liangxiang Campus; third, we are talking about a special topic, focusing on the growth of young talents, the development of aviation industry and global governance, from which students had an in-depth exchange with authoritative experts with rich experience, and further appreciated the importance of active participation of youth in global governance; fourth, we achieve special outcomes. Through the exchange, the students expressed that they would follow the example of the two guests who have been working in the field of aviation global governance for a long time, work hard and study hard, and contribute to the global governance in the future as BITers.

Zhang Jun emphasized that in the face of the overall strategic situation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the unprecedented changes in the world, young students should continuously strengthen their learning ability, improve their innovation awareness, sharpen their sense of cooperation and expand their international vision, so as to be young people of the new era with all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic development, and serve the country and the world in the stage of global governance. He shared his personal growth experience with the students and encouraged them to pay attention to teamwork, stick to the direction of advancement, face up to setbacks and failures, and firmly walk the road of innovation and development.

Representatives of the International Cooperation and Service Center of CAAC and Aviation Data Communication Corporation of ADCC Co., Ltd, journalists of media including Guangming Daily, representatives of Publicity Department of the Party Committee, Department of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, the Student Work Department, the Logistics and Infrastructure Department, the University Youth League Committee, the Xuteli College, the School of Management and Economics and the School of Global Governance participated in the research.

Earlier, Academician Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of BIT, met with Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO.

They had in-depth exchanges on key areas such as education and training, data management, aviation innovation, aviation security, cyber security, emission reduction and sustainable development, and reached consensus on cooperation in developing high-level management and governance talents, establishing special scholarships, and strengthening carbon emission reduction.

In recent years, the university has continued to deepen the internationalization of education, offering over 400 full English/bilingual courses, with the proportion of undergraduate students participating in annual international exchange reaching 42.42%. BIT has been actively introducing international quality educational resources, building an international curriculum system, and constructing full English teaching majors, which has laid a solid foundation for cultivating top innovative talents with global competency.

BIT Team "Eagles" won the Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge，MBZIRC for two consecutive times and two gold medals at the 2022 International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.

BIT students won three Outstanding Winners in the 2023 U.S. Mathematical Contest in Modeling, achieving four consecutive years of "Outstanding Winner".

BIT students won several gold medals in International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (IGEM), the top international competition in the field of synthetic biology.

BIT students won many international awards including the Best Design Award of Germany Red Dot Award, the Best Design Award of Germany iF New Talent Design Award, the Gold Award of US IDEA Award, the Excellent Award of Italy A'Design Design Competition, the Best Exterior Design Award of CDN China Auto Design Competition, the Grand Prize and Artist Award of International Student Snow Sculpture Competition, the First Prize of UXDA International User Experience Innovation Competition.

BIT students won the only gold medal in 1st International Space Science and Scientific Payload competition (ISSSP2022).

BIT students won the Grand Prize in China Final of the World University Cube Star Challenge.

BIT students won the championship of China International "Internet+" Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition twice in three years, which make BIT the only university in China with two championships.

The university carries out the work for international students of studying in China with high quality and high standards, trains high-level international talents from all over the world, and builds a high-level international talent training system. The university has launched the plan of "Study in BIT", established more than 90 undergraduate student bases, received international students from 149 countries, and strived to build an influential and competitive university as an important destination for studying in China, contributing to helping China move to the center of the world stage and promoting the building of a community of human destiny.

More than 6,000 international students studied in BIT, of which nearly 200 are employed in China.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, 358 SCI/CSSCI papers were published by international students as the first author/co-author, many of which were accepted by top journals in various fields. PhD students were invited to participate in the 2023 China Space Day and spoke as representatives.

Since 2016, international students have received 142 awards at provincial and ministerial level or above.

Lanna, a Turkmen student, worked as a project assistant at the International Commercial Dispute Prevention And Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) Secretariat, witnessing the friendship between China and Turkey.

A number of international students served as volunteers for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Creating an international faculty

In the new stage of high-quality development of the university, the university vigorously implements the strategy of strengthening talents and insists on the combination of "bringing in" and "going out". On the one hand, through international postings and participation in international research cooperation, the international influence of teachers is constantly enhanced; on the other hand, through a rich attraction mechanism, first-class overseas talents are attracted to work in the university, so as to enlarge and strengthen the "reservoir" of talents and further enhance the international talent cultivation capacity of the university.

BIT continues to expand its global vision, promote the in-depth implementation of the "Domestic and Overseas Academic Influence Enhancement Plan", and actively introduce overseas talents with international influence to work in the university, and constantly improve the international influence and competitiveness of its teaching staff.

In 2014, Prof. Toshio Fukuda was awarded the "Friendship Award" by the Chinese government. Prof. Toshio Fukuda has made outstanding contributions in the field of micro and nano manipulative robots and bionic robots, and is recognized as an international authority in the field of robotics, as well as a pioneer and leader in the field of biomedical micro and nano manipulative robots.

In 2019, Prof. Hirota Kaoru was awarded the "Friendship Award" by the Chinese government. Prof. Hirota Kaoru has been working in the fields of computational intelligence, fuzzy theory, emotion modeling and perception, intelligent optimization and control, and robotics for a long time, and has achieved fruitful results. He was one of the first scientists to propose the concept of Computational Intelligence in the international field of artificial intelligence.

In 2023, Prof. Alexander Sjeremacher was awarded the "Friendship Award" by the Chinese government. Prof. Alexander Sjerimacher is mainly engaged in the field of mechanical friction, wear, lubrication and nano-friction technology research work. He has published more than 150 academic papers, 2 monographs and 30 patents, and his research results are widely used in industrial production.

BIT has hired Cai Xiande, the recipient of the 2021 Chinese Government Friendship Award, as an adjunct professor. Cai Xiande's main research is microwave remote sensing and applied electromagnetism, and he has published more than 280 articles in international journals.

The university actively guides and encourages outstanding talents to participate in international affairs and global governance, promotes young talents to conduct academic visits and scientific research cooperation in international organizations, better expresses China's voice and provide BIT's solutions, and builds a highland of talents in international organizations.

Professor Hao Liu of BIT serves as the Secretary General of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking of Unmanned Systems (JARUS). He is also a member of the ICAO Expert Group on Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Group of Experts on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Chairman of the Legal Group of the Space Research Group of ICAO and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, and Vice Chairman of the Legal and Regulatory Committee of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety.

Professor Liu Guofu of BIT serves as a high-level adviser to IOM Migration Research and Publishing.

The university has become an academic member of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Professor Hu Weidong went to Greece to attend ITU’s meeting.

Nabil Naoumi, a PhD student at BIT, was the Chairman of the ICAO Navigation Committee (2020.01-2021.12); in addition, a number of postgraduate students have held key positions in the ICAO Council and expert groups.

Constructing a large platform for nurturing people and creating a global "nurturing network"

Focusing on the strategic layout of national diplomacy and the “Belt and Road” initiative, BIT has actively built a higher level of global flagship partnership, built a number of education platforms such as the School of Global Governance, BIT-BMSTU Joint School and Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, accelerated the cultivation of global governance talents, bring more young people to the international arena, so that the world can see BIT, listen to BIT and benefit from BIT.

In July 2021, the School of Global Governance was established, aiming to cultivate composite talents with global competence based on the characteristics of polytechnic institutions, focusing on the layout of management, law, aviation, aerospace, digital economy, artificial intelligence, machinery, electronics, communications and other aspects, and building a highland for global governance talents training, a hub for international exchange and cooperation, and a high-end think tank for global governance. It has built a faculty team including academicians, faculty members, senior liberal arts professors and senior leaders of international organizations, and senior experts and scholars. The university has established cooperative relations with more than 60 intergovernmental and non-governmental international organizations around the world, and has successfully been approved by the Ministry of Education's "International Organization Talent Training Innovative Practice Project", making itself one of the first universities to build bases.

The school recruits undergraduate, master and doctoral students across management (business administration, public administration, management science and engineering) and law disciplines, and adopts differentiated training for students at different stages and with different needs, forming individualized training programs. For fresh students, we promote through-training and encourage internship and practice in international organizations at the graduate stage; for those who are already working in government, industry and international organizations, we bridge the requirements of special competence training and graduate degree education, and assist in pushing them to serve and promote in international organizations.

In 2022, the school established an undergraduate class of excellence in global governance with 25 undergraduates.

The first opening ceremony of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University

On September 13, 2017, the first opening ceremony of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was held. Xi Jinping, President of China and Vladimir Putin, President of Russia delivered congratulatory speeches respectively, marking the origin of its remarkable and remarkable construction. As the first Sino-Russian cooperative university in China, over the past five years, the university has anchored on the goal of building a world-class international comprehensive university with unique characteristics, given full play to the academic advantages of BITand Moscow State University as well as the advantages of regional science and technology, built world-class basic disciplines and internationally leading cutting-edge cross-engineering disciplines, cultivated a number of new people of the times who are capable, smart and brave, and made remarkable academic achievements. BIT-BMSTU Joint School holding a "face-to-face" seminar for students and teachers

In May 2021, BIT-BMSTU Joint School was approved for construction, which is another powerful move of the university's cooperation with Russia after Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. The establishment of BIT-BMSTU Joint School came into being out of careful planning. In 2018 and 2019, the university sent delegations to Russia twice to sign the agreement on joint cultivation of students and cooperative schooling with Moscow State Bowman Technical University; in 2021, the university cooperated with Moscow State Bowman Technical University to carry out internationalized academic education for undergraduates and master students. In the past two years, relying on the advantages of the two universities, BIT-BMSTU Joint School has jointly cultivated leading leaders in the field of engineering who are proficient in Russian and English, systematically mastered professional knowledge, and have global vision and international communication skills. The school has become a new model of cooperation between top universities in Russia and China.

On the basis of actively building a platform for educating people, the university has deeply participated in international academic exchanges, hosted several academic conferences and summits, gathered more global intellectual resources and innovative elements, effectively enhancing the international competitiveness, influence and visibility of the university.

On July 29, 2022, the 2022 Global Digital Economy Conference held a special forum called "Global Governance Rules in the Digital Economy" at the BIT. With the theme of "New Rules to Build a Healthy Ecology of Digital Economy", the forum invited guests from home and abroad to discuss four topics: vision of digital economy governance, cross-border flow of data, digital taxation and currency, digital regulation, and digital dispute resolution in an online and offline manner. The forum released the Beijing Declaration on Global Governance of Digital Economy and Ecology, which issued a common voice for improving the global governance system of digital economy and proposed a common solution, providing strong support for the formulation and improvement of global rules.

WMC2022 World Metaverse Conference was held in Beijing Daxing Economic Development Zone from August 26 to 28, 2022. With the theme of "Insight into the Metaverse, the New Digital space", this conference is jointly hosted by BIT and other institutions. Five academicians, 50 experts in the field of metaverse and more than 300 famous entrepreneurs in the metaverse industry exchanged the development trend of metaverse cutting-edge technology, showcased the scientific and technological achievements and interactive experience of the metaverse ecosystem, and promoted the innovation and development of metaverse industry.

On August 20, 2022, the 2022 International Conference on Teaching and Learning in China was held at BIT. The conference brought together many famous experts and scholars from home and abroad to exchange ideas on topics such as "interdisciplinary teaching scholarship and teaching innovation" and "multi-subject participation in teaching scholarship and teaching community".
