Introduction to Institute of Advanced Structure Technology, BIT
Institute of Advanced Structure Technology, BIT, was established in May 2015, which is an academic entity specialized in the research of advanced structure technology. Aiming at dealing with the frontier basic science issues and major engineering issues related to advanced structure of modern defense and industrial high-end equipment, combined with the national medium and long-term science and technology development strategy, the Institute has created new design theory, new concept, new process, new experimental means and characterization method of advanced structure technology to address key issues in the field of defense and industrial equipment, so as to contribute to the national defense and industrial equipment modernization construction.
Prof. Fang Daining, Academician of CAS, serves as the Honorary Dean and the Chief Scientist of this Institute, and Researcher Yang Yazheng, the Assistant President of BIT, holds a concurrent position as the Dean of it.
The Institute owns “two laboratories and a research center”, including the Laboratory of Lightweight Multi-functional Composite Materials and Structures, the Laboratory of Energy, Optoelectronics and Biomimetic Materials and Devices, and the Research Center for Computational Simulation and Testing Technology and Instrumentation.
The construction of the following 4 scientific research platforms is vigorously promoted by the Institute, namely, Research platform of large size main bearing composite structure for national defense and industrial equipment, Research platform for lightweight multifunctional integrated composite materials and structures, Research platform for energy, optoelectronic materials and flexible functional device, and Research platform for material and structure manufacturing equipment and performance testing instruments and software. Relying on solid scientific research foundation and profound national defense and industrial background of BIT, the Institute devotes itself to gaining system innovation and technological innovation, and becoming a well-known research and high-end talent training base with original innovation ability at home and abroad a well-known research and high-end talent training base with original innovation ability at home and abroad.
