BIT professor wins China Youth Science and Technology Award

Professor Wang Shuai from the School of Cyberspace Science and Technology at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) was honored with the China Youth Science and Technology Award Special Prize at the 2024 World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. Wang was one of the 10 recipients nationwide this year.

Wang, the discipline leader for the Cyberspace Security curriculum at BIT, was selected for the national leading talent program and has long been engaged in applied basic research, key technology breakthroughs, innovative equipment development, and high-end talent cultivation in the field of aerospace security communication networks.

Wang has led and completed several major and key national scientific research projects. He has published over 40 high-level academic papers, obtained more than 90 national invention patents, and authored two academic monographs as the first author.

He has overcome numerous key technical challenges in satellite communication and data link technology, achieving several industry firsts and earning recognition from relevant organizations.

Wang has also received the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the first prize of the Technical Invention Award from the China Institute of Electronics, and the first prize of the Science and Technology Award from the China Institute of Communications, each as the second contributor.

The China Youth Science and Technology Award, formerly known as the "China Association for Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Award", was established in 1987. It aims to recognize young scientific and technological talents who have made outstanding contributions to national economic development, social progress and technological innovation.

It is awarded biennially, with no more than 100 recipients per session. The special prize of the China Youth Science and Technology Award is limited to no more than 10 recipients per session.
