Jiang Lan visits Guangdong to promote local cooperation

Jiang Lan, president of the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), led a team to Guangdong province for in-depth research on promoting comprehensive cooperation between the university and local areas and consolidating the construction and development of the BIT Zhuhai Campus.

Jiang met with Wu Zetong, mayor of Zhuhai, for in-depth discussions on promoting comprehensive cooperation between the university and the coastal city, as well as providing BIT's support for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Wu expressed his gratitude for BIT's long-standing support of Zhuhai and congratulated the achievements of the BIT Zhuhai Campus. He said that Zhuhai looks forward to close collaboration between the university and the local region and will further expand the fields of cooperation with the university.

Jiang said that BIT has engaged in comprehensive, multisectoral and in-depth cooperation with Zhuhai for a long time. In the future, BIT will fully leverage the disciplinary strengths, talent resources and innovation platforms of the Zhuhai campus to accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, promote the establishment of key laboratories, nurture outstanding local talents and work together to achieve higher-level cooperation and win-win outcomes.

In addition, Jiang held a symposium at the university's Zhuhai campus to learn about its recent development and achievements.

He emphasized that by continuously focusing optimizing enrollment structure, recruitment mechanisms, collaborative innovation, project applications, resource mobilization and policy support for the Zhuhai campus will make greater contributions to the development of BIT, as well as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Jiang also had a discussion with representatives of postgraduate students, doctoral students and international students at the campus. Drawing from his own research experiences, he encouraged them to dedicate themselves to in-depth research and persevere in their efforts.

During the visit, Jiang also conducted an on-site inspection of the Greater Bay Area Innovation Research Institute of BIT.
