On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of its founding, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) celebrated its 85th birthday by welcoming the 2025 freshmen with an opening ceremony on Sept 12. The event took place interactively across the Liangxiang Campus and Zhongguancun Campus in Beijing, as well as the Zhuhai Campus in Guangdong province.

BIT leaders and heads of all the schools along with the 2025 freshmen attended the event.

During the opening ceremony, freshmen representatives shared their personal journeys to BIT, expressing their determination and confidence to excel in science and technology.

BIT President Jiang Lan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Jiang stated that the BIT's predecessor was established in Yan'an in 1940, creating a miracle of producing outstanding talents and serving the nation through science and education. He encouraged the new students to carry forward the increasingly glorious legacy of BIT over the past 85 years, and to write their own brilliant chapters.
