In January 2026, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) will convene its 16th Party congress. Leading up to this event, a series of reports will showcase the university's achievements since its 15th Party congress in 2021.

In recent years, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has been vigorously advancing its "double first-class" initiative by creating a dynamic and livable campus. This strategic expansion is designed to enhance both educational and living environments, optimize resource allocation, stimulate innovation, and upgrade service quality.

Over the past five years, BIT has significantly expanded its infrastructure, adding 800,000 square meters of new building space. The comprehensive implementation plan for the Liangxiang campus in Beijing has been approved; and construction efforts have not only met the initial target of 855,900 square meters ahead of schedule but also expanded by an additional 330,000 square meters. This expansion underscores BIT's commitment to fostering academic growth and innovation.

The completion of key facilities, such as the Xishan comprehensive laboratory building, the Liangxiang campus innovation building, postdoctoral dormitories, cultural center, information and innovation building, and several eco-buildings, has injected significant momentum into BIT's academic development. These facilities are pivotal in providing the necessary infrastructure for cutting-edge research and education.

Effective utilization and governance of these resources are crucial for maximizing their potential. Through top-level planning and systematic design, BIT has transitioned from "dispersed consumption" to "integrated coexistence" in resource allocation. This strategic shift supports high-level scientific research and the cultivation of top-tier talent, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively.

A notable investment of 120 million yuan ($17.23 million) has been made in constructing the Liangxiang campus innovation building. Within its 8,500 square meters, a photonic quantum PI platform has been established. Here, a team of over 30 high-level experts from the School of Optics and Photonics, School of Physics, School of Integrated Circuits and Electronics, and the Advanced Research Institute of Multidisciplinary Sciences are conducting pioneering research, positioning BIT at the forefront of scientific discovery.

A first-class campus is further enhanced by first-class services. Modernizing university governance is directly linked to the satisfaction and well-being of faculty and students, thereby enhancing overall educational effectiveness.
