The 2026 "Study in BIT" International Summer Program commenced on July 9, with opening ceremonies held simultaneously at the Beijing and Zhuhai campuses.

Over 600 international students from more than 30 countries and over 60 top partner institutions worldwide have gathered for this summer event, where they will be immersed in professional learning, academic advancement, and cultural exchange.

At the opening ceremony, Gao Shan, director of the BIT Office of International Affairs, welcomed the students who traveled from afar. In her speech, she encouraged the young participants to delve deeply into their professional knowledge, experience Chinese culture and developmental vitality, and achieve personal growth through mutual exchange and learning during this summer program.

Student representative Jonquil Kay Overend from Queen's University Belfast in the UK expressed her gratitude to BIT for the learning and exchange opportunity. She highlighted the value of this program as being able to sit alongside peers from various countries, exchanging ideas across language and cultural barriers, and observing how science presents itself differently yet converges through diverse perspectives. She eagerly anticipates learning with her classmates and challenging each other.

The 2026 "Study in BIT" International Summer Program leverages BIT's strong academic resources to offer a bilingual curriculum covering cutting-edge technology, humanities and social sciences, and language and culture. It balances professional depth with practical application, featuring rigorous classroom instruction, immersive research training, and a variety of cultural experiences, company visits, and city explorations.

The program offers eight major themes, including electronic information engineering, renewable energy materials science, computer science and big data, artificial intelligence, and global leadership, across both the Beijing and Zhuhai campuses.

Compared to previous years, this year's curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary integration, immersive experiences, and AI empowerment — not only touching the frontiers of technology in laboratories but also feeling the pulse of innovation in high-tech parks and appreciating Eastern wisdom through cultural studies, thereby enriching academic pursuits with practical experience and cultural immersion.

In the coming weeks, the participants from around the world will study and research together at BIT, appreciating and learning from each other.
